April - May Mag Issue 25 Paperturn - Page 23

The results have aided our lobbying and
communication with government and stakeholders.
The survey illustrations are an excellent vehicle
to get your collective views across in a direct and
simple fashion that can be easily understood in the
COVID-19 environment that has been described
by some as information overload.

At the end of the survey, respondents were given
the opportunity to let us know their thoughts.
Using your collective thoughts, we have been
arguing that furlough, whilst financially helpful, it
is not a good fit for our industry. Our industry is
largely a reactive response service, so requires
staff remaining on standby to support the work
providers instead of being at home on furlough
which prevents us to be on call. These views have
bolstered our requests to seek more support from
the work providers (with some success) to ensure
the end users are receiving the best service
possible.
Following various meetings with our stakeholders
and communication with government officials we
have taken on board a new focus for our next
survey - The next phase. We have been asked
to collect our members and other operator’s data
from the wider industry to help stakeholders form
their policy going forward.
